Mr. Roth's other important literary works include "Portnoy's Complaint," "The Counterlife" (The National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction in 1987), "Operation Shylock" (The PEN/Faulkner Award in 1994), "Sabbath's Theater" (The National Book Award for Fiction in 1995), "The Human Stain" which was awarded the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction in 2001 and "American Pastoral" which was awarded the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
