With author's inscription to the title page: For Roy. With best wishes / from / Daphne du Maurier / 1988. Edges spotted, bright jacket with some vintage tape strips to reverse side. A very good copy, housed in an apple-green cloth clamshell box. A short novel and several long stories including 'The Birds', which was famously filmed by Hitchcock in 1963. Book is moderately shelf worn and lightly sunned to extremities. Edges are bumped and rubbed. Gilt on spine faded in a few places. Text block is toned and lightly soiled. A small loss is present to the bottom of page 263. Text is unmarked. Binding is tight but inclined slightly toward rear board. Beautiful Biro designed dust jacket presents well despite flaws. Jacket is generally shelf worn, especially along top edge, where bumping and rubbing has created whitening, some chipping, and a closed tear through the "H" of "THE".
