First Edition, first impression. Inscribed thus: 'INSCRIBED for DAVID HEAP of WOODFORD HALSE With best wishes to HINTON by John Betjeman in Westminster Dec: 1977'. INSCRIBED and SIGNED in blue ink to front free-endpaper. Publisher's yellow cloth with gilt lettering to spine and gilt teddy-bear motif to front board. Clear, removable, archival protective sleeve fitted to the illustrated dust-jacket. Small Quarto. pp. 32, fully illustrated in colour. Illustrations by Phillida Gili, designed by Jonathan Gili A book in Very Good condition with a bump to the lower edge of the front board, in a Very good dust-jacket which is not price-clipped. Repairs to top edge of rear dust-jacket panel, with short tears at the top of each fold. Inscribed during the period, 1972-1984, when Betjeman was Poet Laureate, and after he had begun to suffer with Parkinson's Disease which affected his handwriting, as is apparent in this inscription.
