First edition, with 22 sketches of homes of distinguished authors such as Mark Twain, Booth Tarkington, and Richard Watson Gilder. This was Gilder's own copy, with his ownership signature on the half-title page and annotations on pages 124, 128, and 129, regarding his home in western Massachusetts.
