Hardcover, original jacket, 208 pages. First edition. Signed by Edsel Ford II with a dedication to "Brian." Less often mention than the Ford's contribution to the automobile industry is their contribution to aviation I the early years of its development. From Henry's early interest beginning around 1907 when Henry financed the building of a Bleriot type airplane powered by the Model T engine to the purchase of the Stout Metal Airplane Company in 1925 to Ford aviation production during World War I and II, the book documents their activity. One chapter documents polar expeditions. Profusely illustrated with many black and white vintage photographic illustrations. An appendix gives Ford Air Transportation statistics, production by year and type and so on. Numerous reproduction illustrations of old brochures, ticket stubs and so on. Very good plus condition.
