The front flap retains the original $2.75 upper corner price. Inscribed, dated (1945), SIGNED by Feike Feikema (who would later Americanize his name to Frederick F. Manfred) to a close personal friend. The author's second novel is an inspiring tale of the struggle of body and spirit against tuberculosis, "told with hard realism and sensitivity." "From 1942-1943 he was a patient at Glen Lake Sanatorium in Minnesota. He met his future wife, Maryanna Shorba, at the sanatorium.
