Riley" and additionally INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the Ackermonster himself, Forrest J Ackerman, on the last page of the text, simply: "Bill / Forry." ("Bill," the recipient of the book, was the legendary makeup artist William Tuttle, from whose estate this book was acquired.) A "reconstruction" of a legendary "lost" silent film, the 1923 Lon Chaney horror melodrama, directed by Wallace Worsley. "The author's careful reconstruction of this film has resulted in a complete record of the missing Chaney film. The reader of this volume can participate in the entire production process from the writing of the script to the final release of the film. Assembled here for the first time are the full script,set stills, portraits, behind the scene shots and cut scenes." Introduction by Robert Bloch; also includes actress Patsy Ruth Miller's reminiscences of working with Chaney and Worsley that same year (1922) on THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME.
