FIRST PRINTING of First USA Edition (identical to the UK first edition and printed and bound in the UK -- a different dust jacket with adjusted printing was produced for distribution in the USA, the bindings and pages being identical). SIGNED by Reinhold Messner on the title page and SIGNED by Peter Habeler on the short title page. Original grayish blue boards with silver lettering spine. The book is in quite nice condition with no rubbing, no foxing, tight binding, old owner named printed to top corner of FFEP otherwise no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (other than the signatures of Messner and Habeler). The original dust jacket is in nice shape with no chips, no tears, very light tanning to spine, complete with original printed price intact on flap corner. Accounts of the 1975 attempt on Lhotse S Face with Riccardo Cassin's expedition & rapid ascent of Hidden Peak (Gasherbrum I) with Habeler, the first two-man expedition to climb an eight-thousander.
