Artikelbeschreibung vom Verkäufer

A highly desirable signed presentation copy, inscribed by the author in January 1975 to Joe (J. H. H. Gautet, the noted crime writer, editor, and criminological researcher), described as “our master all things criminological as always,” and signed “Don, Jan 1975.” The book also includes a handwritten verse attributed to “The Mikedo,” further enhancing its association and personal provenance. ISBN 0-491-01722-7 A notable feature of this example is the presence of a J. H. H. Gaute ownership sticker, indicating provenance associated with the noted crime writer, editor, and criminological researcher, adding further interest to an already desirable title. A major modern study of the Whitechapel murders and widely regarded as one of the most important works on the Jack the Ripper case. Condition: Very good. Binding firm and sound with text block secure and all leaves intact. Pages are clean throughout with light age-related toning to the top and fore edges, and no foxing to internal pages. Minor wear and bumping to extremities and corners, with light marks to the spine and boards. Original dust jacket present and in good condition, though the plastic coating is lifting slightly at the top edge. Light dust and age toning to the top edge of pages. Condition & Return Policy: Please note that due to the age, rarity, and collectable nature of these books, all sales are final and returns will not be accepted unless an item has been significantly misdescribed. These are original antiquarian works, many of which are well over 100 years old, and will naturally show signs of age and use. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition report. If you require any additional photographs or specific images of particular pages, bindings, inscriptions, or condition details, please feel free to contact me prior to purchase and I will be happy to provide them. All books are carefully packaged between sturdy protective cardboard sheets, placed in a padded jiffy envelope and securely sealed to provide maximum protection during transit and help ensure it arrives safely.

Welcome to our specialist bookstore dedicated to rare and collectible works on criminal trials, legal history, and historic cases. Our collection focuses on a fascinating area of publishing that documents some of the most important, controversial, and intriguing trials in British and international history. We offer carefully selected volumes from well-known historical series including the Notable British Trials, Notable Scottish Trials, Notable English Trials, Old Bailey Trial Series, Famous Trials, and post-war War Crimes Trials. Many of these books were originally published in the early to mid-20th century and provide detailed contemporary accounts of the legal proceedings, personalities, and social context surrounding famous cases. These works are of particular interest to collectors of true crime literature, legal historians, criminology enthusiasts, and readers fascinated by the development of forensic science and criminal justice. The books often include trial transcripts, contemporary commentary, and scholarly introductions by leading legal figures, historians, and writers of the time. Our inventory includes volumes covering a wide range of historically significant cases - from well-known Victorian and Edwardian murder trials, to landmark political prosecutions, to the important post-Second World War war-crimes tribunals. Many titles feature original cloth bindings and early editions that are increasingly difficult to find today. Each book is individually inspected and described as accurately as possible so that collectors can purchase with confidence. Where relevant we note edition information, condition, and any notable features such as limited printings, signatures, or inserts. Our aim is to provide collectors and readers with access to interesting and historically significant books that illuminate the evolution of law, justice, and criminal investigation. Whether you are building a specialist library of trial literature, researching historic cases, or simply interested in the stories behind famous trials, we hope you will find something of interest in our catalogue.
