Written for a thesis at the University of Iowa creative writing master's degree, this novel captures Crumley's experience in the Philippines prior to the start of the Vietnam war. This copy is the original 1970 paperback released after Random House released the hardback in 1969. This copy is simply signed by Crumley on the title page showing slight wear at the bottom of the rear cover and a closed tear tape-repaired on the base of the front cover.
