Octavo, dark blue cloth covers with silver titles and deorations. xxvi [2] 264 pages. Illustrated. index. Spine titles slightly rubbed. SIGNED by the author on the front free endpaper. Small library label on front paste-down with "discarded" stamp (no other library markings) The author was a preservationist and founder of the Fruitlands museum. The subject of this book, William Miller (1782-1849) was a minister credited with begininng the mid-19th century North American religious movement known as Millerism. After his proclamation of the Second Coming did not occur as expected in the 1840s, new heirs of his message emerged, including the Advent Christians, the Seventh-day Adventists, and other Adventist movements. --from Wikipedia. 020922C.
