A.C. McClurg & Co., Chicago. 1913. 276 pages. First edition, first printing with the requisite 1913 date on the title page. Later printings still have a 1913 date on the copyright page, however it is the title page date (1913) that dictates this first printing. Signed and warmly inscribed, and dated 1913, in the year of publication, by W.W. Harris, the book's editor, and former executive of National Association of Amateur Billiards Players, in addition to being the former editor of the New York Herald, and New York Sun. The author, Maurice Daly, a three-time champion, and greatest billiards player in his day, was immortalized in the famous trade cards set, "World's Champions," Series 1 (N28), issued in 1887 in the highly collectible set of 50 cards to promote Allen & Ginter brand cigarettes. Laid into this book is a vintage postcard of Maurice Daly with cue in hand, over a billiards table. As for this book, it is housed in an original rare scarce DJ. DJ shows rubbing and chipping along edges, with light soiling. As for the book, the binding and hinges are sound. Harris' presentation inscription is on the front endpaper. Green cloth shows rubbing to titles with shelf-rubbing along cloth edges. First edition, first printing, of the seminal billiards classic; signed presentation copy. VG-.
