Offered is a signed and inscribed first edition, first (and only) printing, of "E.P.G." - a collection of poetry written by Ed Gottlieb [Edward P. Gottlieb] containing no date or publishing information (although circa 1966). A hardcover lacking dust jacket and containing 86 pages. With a short introduction by Norman Thomas, the book explores the human condition, from youth to old age, and contains several peace and antiwar poems (Ed Gottlieb was Chairman of the Metropolitan Board for Conscientious Objectors from 1952-1960 and Director of the War Resisters League from 1960-1968). Peace, pacifist and antiwar poems include: Gene Debs; Jessie Wallace Hughan; Charles Cogen; Gus [August] Claessens; Friendship is a Warm Cloak; Atom Dung; Little David ["How mighty is your new wrought sling"]; August 6th; Appeal & Vigil at Fort Detrick; No Sermon on the Mount ["Now Jesus don't you cry or shout - From Christmas Island please move out - We're going there to test our bomb"]; To John Haynes Holmes. Signed and inscribed by author to first inside free page in stanza form: "To Mona Golabek - artist - pianist - My friends - are those I need - Who needs me - is my brother - epg April 1973."
