The individual to whom this book was inscribed was a University of Rochester Professor who was a noted Dickens' Scholar and a founding member of the Friends of the University of Rochester Library and his wife who was a teacher in the Rochester City School District. Laid in are two photos of Spender Published by Random House, 1949. First Printing. Hardcover in Dust Jacket. 57 pp. ~6.25" x 9.5". ~Very Good Condition. Please examine photos closely. Discoloration along top edges, light wear to covers. Binding is firm. Jacket with original price shows moderate wear & age, hole at front upper right, loss to spine ends & rear top edge. Protected in clear archival sleeve -- there is a bit of glare in the photos. Previous owner's name (to whom the book is inscribed) at front endpaper; bookseller's sticker at lower right of front pastedown; otherwise interior is age toned, free of markings.
