Beschreibung
This is, in fact, a First Edition (Number Line to 1). It is also signed and inscribed by the author on the title page. A few other sellers have their books listed as Fine/Fine. I usually opt for the more humble/cautious Near Fine. But I'm fairly confident that the condition of my book is at least equal to theirs, so I'm making an exception. You can see the black covers of the book in the photos. They look perfect to me, no soiling, no wear. The book is square, straight and very solidly bound, from cover to cover. The pages are nicely tight throughout. And they are exceptionally clean. In scrolling through, I didn't see any soiling at all. The inside covers and end papers look perfect. The pages are also in excellent condition. I didn't see any creasing or dogeared corners. There aren't any markings or attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in this book. You can't do better than that. The dust jacket has no soiling at all, no wear at all. The flaps look perfect. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. The jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. From my searches I found only one other Signed First Edition. I've priced my book at nearly half the price of that offering, for no particular reason other than the vast generosity of my heart. Sporting News describes Deford as "the most influential sports voice among members of the print media" and GQ simply calls him "the World's Greatest Sportswriter." Of this book Hall Of Fame Mike Schmidt states "The Entitled is a baseball masterpiece, like The Natural and Field of Dreams; the difference is the plot and the characters depict the true inside world of baseball. Frank Deford writes like he played in the majors for ten years. If you have a passion for baseball, this is a must read.". Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 002028
