Signed and inscribed by Peter Beard directly to half-title page inside a speech bubble: Best Wishes and Regards, Peter (Beard). The hand drawn speech bubble is coming from the mouth of a pre-printed, illustrated crocodile; as if the crocodile is talking. The book is about fine; as only flaw is light, scant foxing along top page edges; and minimally on a couple of pages; barely. Purple cloth boards are bright and clean with sharp corners. Binding and hinges are strong. Illustrated endpapers are bright and clean. Original New York Graphic Society DJ is mostly price-clipped as only the dollar sign is left on the flap. A couple of minor rubs along edges. All in all, a near fine copy of the first edition, first printing of the classic title; signed and inscribed by the legendary Peter Beard.
