Print date 1868. First edition/printing. Brown cloth boards have gilt lettering on spine. Cloth is clean. Corners are worn at tips and there is moderate wear to spine ends. There's also the remains of a label on the spine. This is ex-lib (Carnegie Free Library), with library label on front pastedown and a number stamped on title page. No other markings; pages are clean. Binding is slightly shaken but hinges and binding are intact. There is an inscription in faded ink on the ffep from the author. Also included is a letter from the author to the Librarian of The Carnegie Library, which is tipped in with its envelope at rear. A collection of the author's contributions to Pittsburgh newspapers from 1840-1853. Quite scarce.
