A clean and crisp hardback first edition which has been inscribed (and dated) in large letters by the author in the top half of the front free endpaper; the bottom half appears to have (the signature is a little hard to read) an inscription by Harry Ainsworth, who was a newspaper editor and Assistant Editor at Odhams Press. The inscription by the author in fountain pen has offset a little onto the front paste-down. The dust jacket is rather tired, being creased, chipped and rubbed at the extremities, with a few short tears. It has not been price-clipped.
