First UK Edition. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Publisher's cornflower blue boards with black lettering to the front board and spine. A first edition, first printing published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1945. A VG+ copy (with no inscriptions) with a little spotting to the text block and a little scattered spotting to the front board. Small patch of fading to the foot of the spine (where the D/W had previously been folded and which has now been re-folded back in place). SIGNED by way of an official bookplate to the front end-paper. In a very good wrapper (priced 6/- net to the inside flap (as called for) with one minute chip to the head of the spine (not affecting any lettering). Unclipped. Exceptionally clean rear panel front panel with some fading (although how this happened is difficult to fathom). Some rubbing to the edges and corners. Neat internal repair to the foot of the spine.
