40pp. 1st edition. The author's third published collection of poetry, dedicated to the artist and modernist poet David Jones. The book is in fine condition and contains twenty-seven poems including the long poem "Thirty ways of drowning in the sea". Also included is a poem "For Nancy and Betty Sandars". Nancy Sandars (1914-2015) was a well-known archaeologist. She and her sister Betty were friends of the author and also of David Jones. Russet cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on spine. SIGNED by the author on the title page. No other inscriptions. Tightly bound. Appears unread. Unclipped cream dust jacket designed by David Jones featuring a multi-colour, part-Latin religious text which is also printed in the book as a frontispiece. The dust jacket has slight dusty mark on rear panel featuring publishers' advertisements. Tiny closed tear to top of spine and slight wear to corners of dust jacket, which is in near fine condition.
