SIGNED AND DATED inside the front cover as follows: "Dec. 29, 1995 | Vi Beyer." On the title page beneath the copyright notice and in the same hand as the signature inside the front cover, is a hand drawn mouse is the following: "H-ear I yam Write | under yer No's!" 8vo. iv, 1-170p. Illustrated was 67 (!) black and white captioned photos and one black and white map. Cream colored wrappers printed in brown and green, with a black and white photo of Viola Booth Beyer on her horse on the front cover. A few minor dings around the edges, wrappers ever so lightly soiled, the upper right corner has been jammed with the result that there is a crease on the upper right corner, wrappers ever so lightly soiled, asmall abrasion at bottom of spine, all photos and map in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. "This book is written in memory of a wonderful caring mother [Vesta] She desired that I write the story of her life before she passed on, but due to the limited time it wasn't possible. I wouldn't have written the story as it is if she were living. I wouldn't have wanted to hurt her. She thought she was doing the right thing. She lived her young life through me; I've lived my young life through my school kids. I have included some of the colorful, interesting pioneers I have had the pleasure of knowing, as well as a history of the Little Rockies in its early years." [ from the Introduction] Viola Booth Beyer grew up in Landusky, Montana. Born in 1913, she put herself through college and became a school teacher, teaching in many country schools in Phillips County including Landusky, Strater, Dodson and others.
