First edition. Foreword by L.C. Goad. Quarto. Heavily illustrated in black and white. Small owner label placed over previous owner label on front fly, binding very slightly cocked with light wear and a bit of light soil, about near fine. A parting gift to a female supervisor, this copy signed or briefly inscribed by 450 coworkers, the majority of whom are female. The signatures occupy the entirety of the front flyleaf, a rear blank, the rear fly and rear pastedown, along with other areas. Brief inscriptions include: "To one of the best," "To a dear kind lady who has kept up our morale," and "To one of the sweetest supervisors there are." The Eastern Aircraft Division built planes in Linden, New Jersey, during World War II. A compelling artifact attesting to the effectiveness of women in the wartime workforce. Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. A VG- 4to hardcover in no dust jacket as issued. Penned ownership statement in the upper corner of the front paste-down. Brief inscriptions and over fifty signatures on the recto and verso of the following leaf. (The nature of the inscriptions suggest workers at a plant were giving their best wishes to a departing co-worker.) The extensively illustrated contents are somewhat age tanned but they otherwise appear mark-free, fully legible, and securely bound. Blue tweed cloth covers with dark spine lettering and a paper title label on the upper board. The spine is materially darkened from sunning and there is light rubbing along the edges. No ex-library markings. **Extra charges to cover shipping costs may be requested on an order requesting international and/or expedited shipping because of the size and weight of this book.
