Beschreibung
First Edition Inscribed by Elizabeth Cullinan to Roger Angell of this first novel that is a notable portrait of the Irish American experience in the early post World War II era. This copy, of an uncommon title, has a delightful association. It is inscribed by Elizabeth Cullinan on the front endpaper to longtime New Yorker chief fiction editor Roger Angell. ("Merry Christmas, Mr. Angell, affectionately, Betty.") In her day job, Cullinan worked as an administrative employee at the New Yorker, first as a typist and then as a secretary for another prominent editor at the magazine, William Maxwell. Cloth, 328 pages. The book has a bit of tanning at the edges of the covers. The dust jacket has edge wear, including some creasing and short tears on the top edge. The jacket is also price clipped.
