Signed presentation from Niehans on the half title page: "Frau Anna Hatch mitanfrichtigen wunschen [with serious wishes]. Prof. Niehans, 14.V.62." With the name of Anna P. Hatch on the front endpaper- she apparently worked at the Clinique La Prairie in Montreaux, Switzerland. A number of light pencil notations on the title page. Also, laid in is a one-page typed letter signed by Hatch's mother, dated Spet. 20, 1962, expressing surprise at her daughter's friendship with Niehans and praising his works and studies. Paul Niehans [1882-1971] was a Swiss surgeon who was one of the developers of a cellular therapy, called the Niehans method or fresh cell therapy. His renown grew through his treatment of celebrities such as Pope Pius XII, King Ibn Saud, Konrad Adenauer and Charlie Chaplin. In fresh cell therapy, patients are injected with preparations derived from animal organs with the aim of achieving a revitalizing effect in their corresponding organs. The concept was developed by Niehans in the 1930s. Its therapeutic effect has never been proved scientifically. Clinique La Prairie is an award-winning, state-of-the-art health and wellness clinic located in Montreaux, Switzerland. Clinique La Prairie programs are based on a holistic approach that targets senoinflammation and boosts immunity using the four cornerstones of longevity: medical insight, nutrition, wellbeing and movement. Books signed by Niehans are uncommon. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 57447
