Presentation copy in his attractive script from Richard Redgrave to Lady Dorothy Nevill dated July 18th,1865 and with her unusual book label. Redgrave was one of the founder members of the Etching Club. He also founded over 100 schools of art around the country and helped create both the Great Exhibition of 1851 and also the South Kensington Museums. At the time of this signature he was also Surveyor of the Queen's pictures. He was an etcher himself and contributed five of the 31 illustrations in this book. All plates bear the printed word' "Proof". The 20 plates on which the 31 illustrations are placed, alongside Milton's text, are clean with some light foxing but not intrusive. In a fine contemporary binding by Hayday. Full leather with decorative blind stamped design on spine and boards. The gilt is bright on the upper cover which has some transverse scratches across the middle part; minor rubbing elsewhere. Nonetheless a very handsome binding. All edges gilt and still mirror bright.
