First Edition/First Printing; A Very Good book in a Very Good Original Dust Jacket. SIGNED, inscribed, and dated to the title page in the year of publication. 75 illustrations by the author included. A rare signed copy of this "Story of the Real Mexico" from Spratling, best known as an expert silver designer and architecture professor; he was very much interested in all things Mexico and wrote this novel to share his love of the country with others. This copy is in very good condition showing some rubbing and fading to the spine, some moderate off-setting to the endpapers, and slight darkening and soiling to the text block. Housed in a clean and bright original dust jacket that shows faint dampstaining to the spine, mild rubbing and chipping to the spine ends, edges, and corners, and some light foxing to the flap and panel edges. Overall, a presentable and collectible copy; unique in the original jacket, particularly signed.
