[Colophon]: This first edition of A Long Lesson was printed by van Deventer's Drukkerij, Den Haag [Hague], Holland, in Times Roman on van Gelder Oud Hollands paper in March, 1974. The edition, copyright 1974 by Bouwerie Editions, consists of 150 examples [copies] of which 100 (numbered 1 to 100) are for sale; 25 (numbered P1 to P25) are for the use of the poet; and 25 (numbered PP1 to PP25) are for the use of the publisher. This example is No. PP 9 [signed]: John Koethe [This is one of the 25 publisher's copies, numbered: PP 9]. 6 1/2 in. x 8 1/2 in., unpaginated; [20]pp., with text printed on one side only. Gray paper wrappers, sewn. The yapp edges of the wrappers show two tiny splits to the paper, age-related tanning to the paper cover margins, light creases to lower cover corners.
