Beschreibung
Octavo, 474 pages; VG/G+; spine black and white with yellow and orange titling; dust jacket protected with a mylar covering, price uncut '$6.50', mild chipping to extremities, small open tear to upper edge of rear cover; with a 1 page typed letter signed by Elmer Rice to Blaine Cordner, dated August 7, 1946.; NOTE: Shelved in Locked Annex Area, ND-HV Section. Street Scene is a 1929 American play by Elmer Rice which received the 1929 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 1947 Street Scene was turned into an American opera by Kurt Weill (music), Langston Hughes (lyrics), and Elmer Rice (book). Weill received the inaugural Tony Award for Best Original Score for his work. The letter seems to be in response to a letter sent to Rice, discussing Blaine Cornder auditioning for a roll in Street Scene. Blaine had just ended his run on Broadway in Bloomer Girl. Rice is not optimistic, as he is "under the impression that this part has been pretty definitely set."; 1341995. Special Collections. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 1341995
