Exceedingly rare first edition hardcover in fine original, unclipped dust wrapper. A 'Black Beauty' of sorts, the life story of the very first native American breed of horses, a stud colt named 'Mandate' tells the story of his life during the early part of the Nineteenth Century. This book is dedicated by the author to the Cole family of Morgan Horse renown. Barbara Beaumont Cole (1931-2001) was instrumental in helping to create what is now an extremely active Morgan community and horse show scene in North Carolina. The first meeting of the Virginia Carolinas Morgan Club (VCMHC) was held in November 1966 in Barbara Coleââ?¬â?¢s living room. Thirty-seven Morgan enthusiasts attended. Spine of book has a slight twist from storage, but all else is first rate.
