The first edition of this very scarce work.Clippings of the author's signature pasted in to the recto of the front free.A charming topographical history of Stamford, a small town in Lincolnshire.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and twelve plates.Written by the clergyman, ecclesiologist, and antiquarian Mackenzie Walcott.Collated, bound without one plate.A unique copy, with many newspaper clippings pasted in, regarding Walcott, and Stamford, with a total of fifty-seven clippings to the front endpapers. Also with the addition of one plate, a receipt for the George & Angel in Stamford, and four leaves advertising this work.Bookplate of Justin Simpson to the front paste down, with his ink notes to the margins. Simpson is listed to the list of subscribers. In the original cloth binding. Externally, a little worn. Spine and extremities of the boards are faded. Cloth to the rear joint is lifting, smaller amount of lifting to the head and tail of the front joint. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Light marks to the boards and spine. Bookplate to the front paste down. Newspaper clippings pasted to the front endpapers. Internally, binding is strained in places, with a few pages working loose.
