First edition, number 11 of 100 signed and slipcased copies; 8vo (245 x 173 mm, 9 ¾ x 6 ¾ in); 72 black-and-white photographs and texts by Moriyama Daido, printed in offset; black printed paper-covered boards, titles on spine in grey, photo-illustrated dust-jacket, spine faded, and black printed paper-covered board slipcase signed in silver ink, near fine; 181, [11]pp. Memories of a Dog features a selection of photographs that span Moriyama's career up until the point of publication and includes translations of a series of fifteen essays he wrote for Asahi Camera between April 1982 and June 1983. 'At the time, I had been sensing a gap, something like a torn muscle, between the photographs I was taking and the feelings I had about those photographs. It was a time when my sense of reality about taking photographs was quite tenuous. Knowing I was in this state, Tanno Kiyokazu, an editor at the magazine, suggested I try approaching photography from the direction of language, and he set aside seven pages of the magazine for me.
