British edition, first printing of the Collins/Book Society edition, 1953. With original unclipped jacket (10s 6d). Signed by the author in black ink directly to half-title page without dedication. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, a couple of small (approx. 1cm) tears, little patchy creasing/rubbing to edges, a few small marks, minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, minor pushing/bumping to corners, a little patchy browning (including to spine), patchy browning/odd spot of foxing/ to reverse (white side), a little patchy creasing/rubbing/browning to front/back inner flaps and is in only good condition. Boards are near fine (having been well protected by the jacket) with a hint of pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small mark and a minor pushing/rubbing/fading to head/tail of spine. Minor spine lean. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top edge of pages dyed grey have the odd minor scratch. Rough cut page bottoms. Pages are a bit tanned. Odd light scratch to page edges. Very occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. No other faults. A nice copy. All books described honestly and accurately. Paypal accepted.
