Hardback with printed cover and silver foil calligraphy and lettering to spine. First free endpaper signed and dedicated very elegantly by the artist, Chen Yongqiang. This appears to be a dedication to the Chief Executive of Inchcape plc from the artist. There are introductions by Li Wei-Ming, Liang Jiang and Wang Huang-Shen. These also appear to be signed - but could be facsimile signatures? 142pp beautifully illustrated text. Dual English/Chinese language. Very scarce. Chen Yongqiang, born in 1948, is a native of Nanhai city, Guangdong province. He has served as president of the Guangzhou Art Academy. He is now executive vice-chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Literature and Arts, council member of the Chinese Artists Association, vice-chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Artists Association, honorary president of the Guangzhou Art Academy, vice-chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Artists Association, honorary chairman and professor at the Art Department of Guangzhou College of Education and chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Council for the Promotion of Children Art Education. In addition, he is rated as a national first class artist and Outstanding Expert in Guangzhou. Chen graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Guangzhou College of Art in 1981 with an MA degree. His works have been shown in all national art exhibitions since 1973. From 1985, he held solo art exhibitions in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Shanghai, Harbin, Beijing, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Macao, Taipei, Singapore and four major cities in the United States respectively. Some of his works have been collected by the Provincial and Municipal Art Galleries of Guangdong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Heilongjiang and Sichuan as well as the Chinese National Art Gallery. Most of his works are of the genre of flower-and-bird Chinese painting and depiction of natural scenes that celebrate nature and life. His techniques are based on Chinese traditional painting but incorporate elements of Western Impressionism and Expressionism from which he has created an artistic style that is culturally distinctive, keeping up with contemporary lifestyles together with expressive of his individuality. His works are energetic, robust, profound, intense and rhythmic, making him an outstanding, influential artist of the flower-and-bird genre in southern China Dimensions: 35.5cm high x 26.7cm wide x 2cm deep.
