8vo. Red cloth with gilt spine lettering and rules, pictorial dust jacket. 443pp. Near fine/very good. Faint jacket edgewear to surprisingly bright jacket. Handsome, super tight first edition of Robbins' first novel, described on front jacket panel as "A Novel of Passion and Struggle." This lovely copy also bears fine autograph addition: In 1958 a film version was released, a crime drama starring Steve McQueen and John Drew Barrymore, and this copy has a fine heavy stock 5" X 3" card signed by a cast member tipped to front flyleaf: SALEM LUDWIG (1915-2007), who plays Moishe Moscowitz, signs big and bold in blue ballpoint, dating it 2 October 1989 at upper right.
