First Edition, stated "First Printing, 1953". 8-1/4" tall; 255 pages; one piece orange cloth over board; black lettering on spine, boards plain; plain ivory end pages. Book is square, binding lightly spotted, hinges tight, heel of spine is slightly creased; corners and edges unbumped. Spine and both boards of cover have numerous small (1/8" diameter down to pinpoint size) spots, very slightly darker in color than the cloth, visible on attached photo. Jacket is at least very good with a hint of wear at spine ends of jacket; light foxing/sunning of 1/8" of entire top & 1/8" of both fore edges and of entire back panel of jacket; some light soiling to rear white panel of the jacket; "$3.00" original price printed on top edge of front panel. No other discernible or objectionable faults on book or jacket such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no previous owner markings or inscriptions, not a book club edition, not a former library book. Signed legibly by author in blue-black fountain pen ink in middle of front end page.
