Yellow hardback, with gilt lettering on front and on spine, but title and author's name is faded. Edition number 145/525, signed by author and illustrator. Engravings by Stephen Gooden. Deckled edges, top edges gilt with silk bookmark. Bookplate of Sir Gervase Beckett, Baronet pasted down on front endpaper. It appears to be the coat of arms for Beckett (1866-1937), British banker and Conservative member of Parliment. Also laid in, a postcard with the description of the book by Bernard Quaritch, Bookseller, London. In very good slipcase.
