The sole UK printing published by The Enitharmon Press, London in 1977. This being number '77' of only 250 copies issued. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just some very early splaying of the front board. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition with just a tiny area of loss at the upper rear edge. Light edge wear. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been signed by the artist Frances Richards at the limitation page. The book has been further signed and inscribed by the artist to the front blank end-paper : ''Hand-coloured by Frances Richards for Joyce'. Loosely inserted is a H/W letter from the artist on her personal headed paper : 'Happy birthday Joyce , love from Frances X'. 23 leaves , of which 18 leaves have poems (Richard Burns) and illustrations (Frances Richards). This copy has additionally had the illustrations uniquely hand coloured by the artist. Frances Richards, wife of the artist Ceri Richards was in her own right a distinguished painter, graphic artist, draftswoman and illustrator and is represented at the Tate Gallery, London. She initially attended the Burslem School of Art 1920-1924, and later became a pottery designer at the Paragon China Company. From 1928-1939 Richards worked as a teacher in the textile department at the Camberwell School of Art and throughout her life she experimented with embroidery amongst many other mediums. Mel Gooding wrote that her work though appears to have been little influenced by her husband's painting - 'for over fifty years her own quiet and formalised figurative art was unaffected by her daily closeness to the extravagant and sometimes violent drama of (Ceri) Richards' paintings'.
