First Edition (Number Line to 1). Signed and inscribed in the year of it's publication by the sculptor Peter Rubino. This is a 11 by 9 inch soft cover. I couldn't find one Hardcover copy of this book for sale anywhere so I am very comfortable asserting that this was only published in a Paperback format. There are 160 pages. 99% of them have photographic illustrations of Mr. Rubino teaching you how to be a Portrait Sculptor. The illustrations on pages 145 through 156 are in color. Nice to have a book without any real flaws. As the photos will attest to, this book has No soiling on the covers, , None on the end papers, and None on the interior pages. There is one speck-sized spot on a page edge. Other things it has None of are tears, edge wear, creases, markings or writing. None of any of those. Of course books, like people, are never perfect and the spine of this large paperback book is slightly cocked forward. However, the book is Very solidly bound. No issues at all in that regard. 'From renowned sculptor and dedicated teacher Peter Rubino, The Portrait in Clay not only teaches the fundamentals of portrait sculpture but also demonstrates how artists can express themselves through the use of tools and their hands. Simulating an actual studio workshop class, the clear, step-by-step illustrations take the reader through the entire sculpting process from start to finish, providing information on equipment, the structure of the head, sculpting the individual features, using your tools and hands to model the clay, firing your work. Plus, there is a full-color section on creating patinas and mounting your work. A truly unique and comprehensive volume, The Portrait in Clay will equip beginning and intermediate sculptors with the knowledge they'll need to overcome even the most complex sculptural problems. It is a must-have for anyone interested in this most popular form of sculpture'. The Portrait in Clay has been translated into Russian and Chinese. Mr. Rubino's abstract works include an eleven foot work entitled, "Mother of All Life," which can be seen at the Boyco Research center at Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel, and a thirty-five foot monument entitled, "Angel" created for The Walt Disney Company. He's also known for his busts of famous athletes, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Don Mattingly(see a theme), and Ty Cobb and Lawrence Taylor. Phil Esposito commissioned a figure the great Rangers goalie Eddie Giacomin and it was presented to him when his Jersey number was retired. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 000092
