Beschreibung
First edition. Fine in dark-blue linen with gilt embossed titles to the spine; in a very good plus to near fine dust jacket with light rub-wear to the shelf edges. Warmly inscribed and SIGNED to the front end-paper by Bill Peterson, the author, artist and highly acclaimed musician and trumpet player. Laid in, is a SIGNED and handwritten two-page note-card, housed in a handwritten envelope, all penned by Bill Peterson to the inscribee, Diane Spurlock. In the laid in sympathy note, Peterson gives himself credit for Diane's marriage to his late friend, Jack Spurlock, a professional, recorded, trombone player he worked with frequently. Several photographs and numerous caricature portraits of famous people illustrated by Peterson charmingly enhance this fascinating music memoir. Peterson, a highly acclaimed trumpeter, was also an actor/trumpeter with a spotlighted cornet solo in the Kirk Douglas featured 1970 film THERE WAS A CROOKED MAN. The highly in-demand trumpeter had a long career and played for and associated with a long list of famous actors, singers, musicians, and directors. This memoir tells the behind the scenes tales with anecdotes of associations with the likes of Barbara Streisand. Keely Smith, Frank Sinatra, Madonna, Bob Dylan, Steven Spielberg, John Williams, Clint Eastwood, Tina Turner, Johnny Carson, Al Jolson, Joseph Mankiewitz, Louis Armstrong, Humphrey Bogart, Hoagy Carmichael, James Cagney, Kirk Douglas, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Raymond Chandler, and so many more. A nice, presentable SIGNED collectible. Octavo; 284 pages; index. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers ABE-1583556462795
