This is an interesting copy as it comes from the private collection of the the actor Paul Scofield. This is the copy given by the author to Scofield whom he greatly admired. The author's signed greetings slip to Paul is loosely inserted with inscription 'Dear Paul, a Happy Christmas, love Graham'. In quarter-backed green buckram with marbled front and rear panels with title in gilt on spine, Issued without dust jacket but with special endpaper illustrations. This copy has a plastic protective jacket. Binding is as new. Pages bright and clean.
