Presumed first edition hardcover, bound in blue cloth, with black lettering on front cover, and faded gilt lettering on spine, is in GOOD condition, having bumping and wear to corners; wear to covers and spine; former bookseller/owner made some penciled notations on the reverse of first free endpaper; some small crimping of the top page corner from half-title page to page 6; some browning to the endpaper sections, with slight cracking along the hinges; book originally published with un-cut pages, and there is the normal raggedness where former owner opened pages with a blade (and there may be some still un-cut pages). INSCRIPTION BY THE AUTHOR HENRY LUMLEY in black fountain-pen ink on title-page: "To the Earl of Crawford with the Author's Compliments" . Literary criticism. Shakespeare. DB.
