Jacket is near fine. Beverley Hills could almost be seen as Clavell's home town as he had been in Hollywood for some time writing screenplays. Shogun has been filmed twice, the most recent adaptation quite splendid. This is one of the great adventure novels of the 20th century which takes place in the Japan of 1600, loosely based on a famous period in Japanese history.
