Shoji Ueda (1913-2000) - legendary Japanese surrealist photographer, who spent a long life photographing the dunes of Tottori - a deserted seashore at the South of the Honshu Island. Present publication is a collection of visual memoires that he brought with him from Europe. The book has a dedication by Shoji Ueda to Itami Mikihiko (1920-2019) - a haiku master, known as a photographer as well. An enveloped handwritten letter to the same recipient was found under the dust jacket. The letter is a Shoji Ueda s explanation about the content of the book to Itami. Text in Japanese and English. 26x24cm. 180 pp. Photobook. Monochrome photography. Occasional foxing. Dedication on flyleaf in blue ink. Original dust jacket. Original slip case is slightly soiled. Staples are rotten. Obi in very good condition. Handwritten blue ink letter is in very good condition. Envelope has few stains. Extra shipping charges may be applied due to weight of the item.
