Black boards and cocked spine, the latter lettered in gilt. Uncreased jacket soiled, particularly on rear white panel; browned spine with 3 cm x 5 mm loss around top accompanied by frayed edge and 8 mm x 8 mm chip; slight loss and fraying around its base and a 5 mm x 3 mm chip on lower front edge. Text block edges a little spotted. Internally a 5 mm brown spot on front pastedown; ffep inscribed thus: 'To Charles who ordered the first book from Bill'.
