Beschreibung
First Edition. 8vo. Green spider-web patterned boards, cloth back, titles to spine and front cover gilt. Forman Brown was one of the world's leaders in puppet theatre in his day, as well as an important early gay novelist. He was a member of the Yale Puppeteers and the driving force behind the famous Turnabout Puppet Theater in Los Angeles. This is his first book, a poetry collection. ##### Frontispiece and 3 full-page woodcuts by Packard, all with spider-web patterned glassine guards. This issue with the illustrated jacket precedes the more common edition issued in wrappers, also with a jacket. This is the first book by the noted gay author who also wrote the 1933 novel Better Angel, about a young man coming to terms with his homosexuality. The novel is regarded as the first American novel to present the 'gay' experience in a healthy light.[Under the pseudonym Richard Meeker.] When it was reprinted in 1995, under the assumption that the author was no more alive, Brown stepped forward and acknowledged the novel was heavily autobiographic. ##### Inscribed on front flyleaf to Charleson Gray, another writer, most known for writing the Photoplay novelization of The Vagabond Lover, Rudy Vallee s first film about a small-town boy who finds fame and romance when he joins a dance band. (1929) ##### CONDITION: Near fine, corners and edges lightly rubbed. Front pastedown chafed, probably from removal of a bookplate. In good+ dustjacket chipped at corners and spine ends; not price-clipped. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers k210130h

We guarantee the condition of every book as it's described on the AbeBooks web sites. If you're dissatisfied with your purchase (Incorrect Book/Not as Described/Damaged) or if the order wasn't delivered, you're eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. As collectors ourselves, we know that sometimes a book arrives that just isn't quite what we expected, even though it was accurately described. We will refund those too, but in that case, we would like you to contact us ...
Mehr InformationShipping costs are based on an average weight, including packaging, of 2 LB, or 0.9 KG. We usually don't charge extra if you are above that, but If your book is very heavy or special handling is required we may add an extra shipping charge. This usually occurs only for books being shipped via priority mail or internationally; the extra cost for shipping can make the difference in whether we make a profit or take a loss on the sale. We will always contact you first to get your approval for the extra charge. Sometimes shipping doesn't cost as much as we estimate -- if it's a negligible amount we just let it be but if it is substantial, we usually refund the excess shipping. We do not insure our shipments*; if you would like your package insured let us know and we will quote you the extra cost for doing so. (*Domestic items being sent by priority mail are automatically insured by the post office for up to $50.)
