Infimes frottements sur les coiffes, titres rayés par Montherlant au dos du second plat, très bel état de conservation. Précieux envoi autographe signé et daté par Hergé enrichi d'un dessin à l'encre noire de Tintin et Milou avec son os, au verso du feuillet de garde : "A Henry de Montherlant. Puisque Tintin (a bul) a eu la faveur d'être évoqué par le Cardinal d'Espagne. En témoignage de toute particulière admiration. De toutes ses lectures, Montherlant est l'auteur moderne qu'Hergé préférait (Hergé, Son of Tintin, Benoît Peeters). Cette admiration était partagée : avide collectionneur de Tintin, Montherlant a consciencieusement rayé sur le second plat de cet album tous les titres qu'il possédait déjà, excepté Les Sept Boules de Cristal et L'Affaire Tournesol qui devaient manquer à sa collection. Dans cette précieuse dédicace, Hergé remercie son ami pour son clin d'oeil à Tintin dans sa pièce Le Cardinal d'Espagne - Montherlant a en effet créé un personnage en hommage au célèbre garçon à la houpette dans une de ses pièces, mais il s'agit de son Don Juan (La Mort qui fait le trottoir), autre pièce se déroulant en Espagne, dans lequel figure l'hilarant "Don Tintin de Retintin". Esthétique dessin-dédicace d'Hergé à l'une de ses grandes influences littéraires - un de ses rares envois autographes à une personnalité des lettres françaises.
