Inscribed First Edition of H.L. Mencken's discussion of the history of religion. Inscribed by H.L. Mencken to a previous owner on the front endpaper: "John Wade, one more for his collection! H.L. Mencken" Mencken also dated the inscription (1930.) A contemporary of Mencken's named John Wade was the flutist in Mencken's Saturday Night Club of music- playing revelers. But we don't have enough information about the provenance of the inscription to determine whether this copy was inscribed to that John Wade. Blue cloth, 364 pages. The gold stamping of the titles and decorations on the spine are mostly rubbed off. Has a couple small, discolored spots on the front cover. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 011661
