Londres, The Medici society, 1926. In-8, 51 pp., cartonnage éditeur à dos de toile bleue, dos lisse (petites rousseurs). Édition originale de ce recueil de poème d'Edith Wharton, poète et romancière américaine, récipiendaire du prix Pulitzer en 1921. Un des 130 exemplaires tirés sur vergé, dont seulement 100 ont été mis dans le commerce, griffe de l'auteur à la justification. Cet exemplaire est enrichi d'un envoi autographe signé de l'auteur à Philomène de Lévis-Mirepoix, daté de décembre 1926. Les deux femmes se rencontrent à Paris en 1920, elles ont 25 ans de différence mais elles sont toutes les deux auteurs (sous le pseudonyme de Claude Silve pour Philomène de Lévis-Mirepoix) et s'entendent bien. Wharton choisit de s'installer dans la ville d'Hyères, ville dans laquelle Lévis-Mirepoix a emménagé après la Première Guerre mondiale. C'est ce lieu qui a donné à Wharton le matériau des poèmes ici publiés qu'elle évoque dans son envoi. Cette proximité fait évoluer leur relation qui devient une longue et durable amitié et dure jusqu'au décès de Wharton en 1937. Ex-libris gravé de Philomène de Lévis-Mirepoix.
