[Autobiography] INSCRIBED FIRST EDITION. Octavo (22 x 15cm), pp. xi; 212. Inscribed by the author in blue ink to flyleaf, illustrative frontispiece painted by Alistair MacLeod, 13 pages of half tone illustrations. Publisher's blue cloth lettered in gilt to spine, typographic dust-jacket, priced at 18s to front flap. Toning to flyleaf, toning to edges of textblock, slight rolling to spine, toning and spotting to dust-jacket, some tearing. Very good. Major Jack Poole joined the King's Royal Rifle Corps at the age of 18, and fought through the Battle of Ypres. He was a prisoner of war for a period of time, and on his third attempt to escape he was successful. He made his way home through Holland.
