On the achievements of Wellington in Spain against Buonaparte, Southey was dutiful as Poet Laureat in what was often a rather irksome task. The Preface to 'A Vision in Judgement' gave rise to Southey's quarrel with Byron when he called the younger poets the satanic school, characterized by a satanic spirit of pride and audacious impiety! The use of hexameters further inflamed the situation. Byron, of course, wrote 'The Vision of Judgement' as a parody-attack. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 638
